Most mugs work.
A flat base works better.
How the mug touches the plate
makes a difference to warmth.
The everyday classic.
Most ceramic mugs can be used. A thick or recessed base can transfer warmth more slowly.
Watch the moment.
A suitable single-wall glass mug can conduct warmth through its base.
Make contact.
Compatible single-wall enamel or metal mugs can transfer heat efficiently.
For the best contact
Center a flat-bottom mug on the plate. Mug thickness, drink volume and room temperature affect the result.
Check the exceptions
Insulated or double-wall mugs may transfer little heat or may not be detected. Follow the supplied instructions for suitable materials; plastic and paper cups are not recommended.
